The study focused on the suppliers of electrical components in Malaysia with a certified ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS). 135 firms have been identified as the population of the study with only 70 useful questionnaires having been collected through the census sampling method. The data were analyzed using SmartPLS Version 3.0. The results revealed that all three critical factors of compliance to laws and regulations, top management commitment and supplier relationships have significant positive relationships with green purchasing practices. The contingency theory used in this study has provided a reliable basis for the study's framework; as a matter of fact, the successful adoption of green purchasing practices is contingent upon the incorporation of the three critical factors into the internal process or system in the organization. Future studies should look into the impact of other factors that might be important to influence the green purchasing practices in Malaysia. © 2018 Author(s).
