Description
Summary:The pineapples production in Malaysia to contain approximately 83,000 tons pineapple peel wastes (PPW), frequently discarded, and dumped as waste. The use of microwave assisted extraction (MAE) for was found to be beneficial as to add value process to PPW. In this work, the effect of ethanol and distilled water as solvent at different power level were studied. The yield of extraction using ethanol was found higher than distilled water at 300 Watt. The extract obtained by ethanol showed higher TPC as compared with distilled water as solvent with 255.236 mg GAE/g PPW and 197.776 mg GAE/g PPW respectively. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd.
