Summary:Climate-resilient energy systems of the future will require the integration of renewable energy sources, such as solar energy. Solar thermal energy generates the desired thermal energy for use in industry, commerce, and residences. Significant efforts have been made to improve the design and integration of systems, resulting in cost reduction and increased technology competitiveness in industrial applications. This chapter assesses the technology's solar thermal potential and its economic viability and discusses the theoretical concepts and design types of solar thermal systems used in the food industry.
