Description
Summary:The well-established Project Quality Plan (PQP) which describes the activities, standards, tools and processes required is believed to be an effective guide to achieve quality in managing construction projects. In ensuring this, many projects have made PQP mandatory for their contractors to observe. Notwithstanding, in many cases, issues of quality continue to persist during the project implementation. One of the reasons for this problem is the inadequacy of the PQP itself. This paper presents the research that investigates to identify the elements that must be incorporated in PQPs to circumvent this problem. The premise of the study was the PQP that was developed in the construction of the 52.2 km KVMRT Projects which includes 36 stations involving 53 work package contractors. Qualitative research methods were used. Data were collected from ten (10) PQP that the contractors used. The Content Analysis method was administered to analyse the data using ATLAS.ti software version 9. The findings identified 7 key elements of the PQP and 27 sub-elements incorporated with the continuous improvement model (PDCA Model), which must be precisely underlined in the PQP to ensure that the contractors understand what needs to be done to achieve the project quality objectives. © 2023 Author(s).
