Incestuous dynamics are deeply entrenched issues within familial structures that carry severe psychological and social consequences. This study delves into the complex interplay of factors that contribute to the prevalence of incest. Among the primary influences identified are dysfunctional family environments, where poor communication, lack of emotional connection, and abusive behaviors create a breeding ground for inappropriate sexual boundaries. The availability of victims within the private confines of home exacerbates the issue, as proximity and accessibility increase the risk of such interactions. Misuse of drugs plays a significant role, as substance abuse can impair judgment and disinhibit controls that typically prevent such behaviors. Further compounding the issue is inadequate sexual education, which fails to instill a clear understanding of healthy sexual boundaries and consent. Religious practices that emphasize secrecy and forgiveness without addressing underlying harmful behaviors can also perpetuate cycles of abuse. Additionally, the pervasive accessibility of pornography acts as a catalyst, potentially normalizing sexual aggression and misinforming individuals about healthy sexual conduct. This paper argues that tackling incest requires a multifaceted approach, focusing on improving family dynamics, enhancing education about sexuality, regulating influences like drugs and pornography, and fostering open discussions within religious communities.
