Institutional research provides objective, systematic, and thorough research for university administrative offices to make educational plans and decisions. As an indispensable part of higher education in China, international students play an essential role in national diplomacy and cultural exchanges. As such, moral education has become an integral component for international students, which helps cultivate students with ideals and responsibilities, guides students worldwide to look at the world from the perspective of appreciation, mutual learning, and sharing, and promotes exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations. However, studies on international students' status of moral education are rather limited. Hence, a quantitative research method was adopted on 64 international students from a university in China to find out the current status of moral education among international students in China. The questionnaire survey showed that international students' moral education level is generally good. Furthermore, no significant differences were recorded in their moral education with different genders, length of study/stay in China, educational background, and Chinese language proficiency. However, in contrast, some students expressed problems such as shallow moral awareness, weak moral emotion and will, and poor moral behavior. It is therefore suggested that students raise their moral education awareness, higher education institutions strengthen the connotation construction of moral education, improve the structure of instructors for moral education, and guide students in establishing correct values in addition to excavating moral education factors in teaching materials. © 2023, Southeast Asian Association for Institutional Research.
