Haemodialysis is a destructive medical, social and economic difficulty for patients and health care system. The purpose of the study was to explain the Socio-demographic characteristics of haemodialysis patients, their economic burden, besides the Projected cost in upcoming. A cross sectional research was performed in 2010 at Ministry of Health, Jordan. One hundred and thirty eight male and female patients with mean age 45 years were engaged in the study. The total number of patients was 2890 and the prevalence was 473 per million populations. Approximately 68% of them not working and about 20% of patients were dialyzed 12 hours/week. The yearly cost per patient was USD 9976 and the cost per treatment was USD 72. Consequently, the nationwide burden of haemodialysis patients was USD 38.26 million annually and by 2028; the estimated burden of haemodialysis will be USD 147.65 million. Eventually, focus on approaches and treatments to reduce the disease progress and to accelerate the set up of National Kidney Registry, which will be the precise and formal source of statistics of dialysis patients. © IDOSI Publications, 2013.
