Total factor productivity growth in the small size Malaysian manufacturing industry: Primal and dual approaches

The main objectives this paper are to study the theoretical relationship between the primal and dual Total Factor Productivity (TFP) from the accounting measurement perspective and assess their accuracy in measuring unobserved TFP growth in the presence of (market power) MP and non constant returns...

總結:The main objectives this paper are to study the theoretical relationship between the primal and dual Total Factor Productivity (TFP) from the accounting measurement perspective and assess their accuracy in measuring unobserved TFP growth in the presence of (market power) MP and non constant returns to scale (NCRTS) in the case of Malaysia's manufacturing industry. In support of this, this paper uses an empirical method to estimate TFP growth by using Malaysian manufacturing data at 5-digit SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) level, when both primal and dual TFP accounting measurements fail due to MP and NCRTS.
